What happened
Air Greenland has put nonstop flights from Copenhagen to Ilulissat on sale from 19 April 2026, covering the route with a Jettime 737-800 until a leased former SAS Airbus A320neo arrives in April 2027. The 2,125-mile sector takes 5hr toward Ilulissat and 4hr45min back to Copenhagen. GL705 departs Copenhagen at 9:45am. GL706 leaves Ilulissat at 1:15pm.
The A320neo previously flew for SAS as LN-RGO and will be re-registered OY-GRL. Air Greenland leased the nearly 10-year-old jet from Carlyle after Airbus delivery waits ran too long. The cabin will have 168 seats in 29 rows of 3-3. The 18 premium seats keep the 3-3 layout and sell the middle. Ilulissat's new 2,200-meter runway can take jets.
The service runs alongside the A330neo on Nuuk to Copenhagen and removes the Kangerlussuaq connection. Premium is extra legroom in 3-3, not a business cabin. Book the Copenhagen nonstop for Ilulissat, but expect a Jettime 737-800 until 2027 and treat premium as extra-legroom economy.
