What happened
Virgin Atlantic has accelerated its plan to install Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet, with installation beginning in early May 2026 on Airbus A350s. The airline will offer the high-speed, low-latency service for free to all members of its Flying Club loyalty program, allowing multiple devices per user. The original timeline had installation starting in Q3 2026. The new schedule sees all A350s equipped by early summer 2026, followed by Boeing 787s in the second half of 2026. The remaining Airbus A330neos will receive the upgrade in 2027, completing the fleetwide rollout. The Airbus A330ceos will be retired before receiving the upgrade. This move positions Virgin Atlantic to compete with British Airways, which also announced free Starlink for its loyalty members. The service replaces existing paid Viasat Wi-Fi on some aircraft, offering gate-to-gate connectivity suitable for streaming and productivity
