Why it matters
Affects 3 airline programs (Air France-KLM, Lufthansa, SWISS).
What happened
SWISS Air Lines has announced it will discontinue in-flight duty-free sales on all its flights by September 30, 2026. The carrier cites changing passenger behavior, with fewer travelers making spontaneous onboard purchases and more researching prices online beforehand. The current in-flight sales catalog, which includes watches, jewelry, perfumes, cosmetics, and accessories, will remain valid until the end of September. Starting in June, SWISS will offer selected items at reduced prices (starting at 25% off) while stocks last. The limited-edition Breitling 'Navitimer B01 Chronograph 46 SWISS Limited Edition' pilot's watch will remain available on selected long-haul routes until the end of September and can be pre-ordered via the Worldshop. Going forward, customers can purchase selected products from the former duty-free catalog online via the Miles & More Worldshop. This change does not affect other onboard retail offerings, such as the Economy food and beverage concept 'SWISS Saveurs'
