## Summary

Marriott Bonvoy has updated its policy regarding free night awards, allowing members to combine their certificate with additional points to book more expensive properties. Key details:
- New Limit: Up to 25,000 points can be added per night (previously 15,000).
- Effective Date: March 12, 2026.
- Eligibility: Applies to all free night awards, including those from co-branded credit cards, promotions, and Choice Benefits.
- Application: Points can be added during booking for multi-night stays. Nightly upgrade awards can still be applied.
- Impact: Certificates worth 35k, 50k, or 85k points can now be used at properties costing up to 60k, 75k, or 110k points respectively. This offers more flexibility but may not fully offset recent points inflation at top-tier properties

## Why it matters

Spans 4 hotel programs (Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy...).
