Effective May 27, 2026, Lufthansa Miles&More has expanded its high cancellation fees to award tickets, charging up to 1,500 Euro for Lufthansa Group flights depending on the fare class, while partner flights remain cheaper

## Summary

Lufthansa Miles&More has implemented a new penalty policy for award cancellations effective May 27, 2026. The airline now charges up to 1,500 Euro to cancel an award ticket, with some fares becoming non-refundable entirely. The fees vary by fare class: Business Light/Saver fares have no refundability option, Business Base charges 1,500 Euro, and Business Flex charges 1,000 Euro. These high fees apply specifically to flights operated by the Lufthansa Group. In contrast, awards booked on partner airlines like Thai Airways remain more moderate, with cancellation fees around 50 Euro. This expansion follows earlier changes to revenue fare cancellation fees and a previous adjustment to award tax/surcharges, marking a significant reduction in flexibility for Miles&More members booking Lufthansa Group flights

## Why it matters

Affects 3 airline programs (Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Thai Airways).
