Hilton Honors backdated a T&C update to April 24, 2026, creating specific terms for citizens residing in Mainland China. These terms mandate prior notice of material program changes and govern disputes under Chinese law

## Summary

Hilton has amended its Hilton Honors Terms & Conditions, backdating the effective date to Friday, April 24, 2026. The update introduces a specific carveout for members who regularly reside in Mainland China and hold citizenship of the People’s Republic of China. Key changes include:
- **Notice of Changes:** Hilton must provide prior notice of any material changes to the Program Terms and Conditions, as required by Chinese law.
- **Opt-out Right:** Members may opt out of these changes by terminating their Honors membership via the app, phone, or email.
- **Dispute Resolution:** Disputes are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China and resolved through negotiation or lawsuit in the defendant's domicile court.
- **Class Action:** The standard class action waiver does not apply to these specific members. This creates a tiered legal framework where Mainland China residents have enhanced protections regarding program changes compared to other global members

## Why it matters

Spans 3 hotel programs (Hilton, Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy).
