Emirates flight EK213 from Dubai to Miami declared a fuel emergency after two go-arounds due to weather and ATC delays, landing on its third attempt with a 'mayday' call

## Summary

Emirates flight EK213, operating a Boeing 777-300ER from Dubai (DXB) to Miami (MIA), declared a fuel emergency on Sunday, May 17, 2026. The flight departed 28 minutes early but faced strong headwinds and poor weather in Miami. After one go-around due to low visibility and wind shear, the crew considered diverting to Fort Lauderdale but was advised to stay at Miami. A second go-around occurred when another aircraft failed to vacate the runway promptly. The pilots then declared 'minimum fuel' followed by a 'mayday' fuel emergency, granting top priority for landing. The aircraft touched down on its third attempt at 11:08 AM, over an hour late. The incident highlights the tight fuel margins on ultra-long-haul routes when facing en-route delays and approach sequencing issues
