Due to a national strike in Belgium, Brussels Airport is requesting airlines to cancel more than half of scheduled flights on May 12, 2026, impacting departures and some arrivals

## Summary

Brussels Airport expects limited staffing at service suppliers due to a national manifestation on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Unlike previous strikes that resulted in total cancellations, the airport has requested airlines cancel over 50% of scheduled flights. Brussels Airlines has proactively altered its network and will contact impacted passengers via email with rebooking or refund options. Under EU Air Passenger Rights (EC 261/2004), airlines must provide rebooking, refunds, and duty of care (meals/accommodation) even during strikes. Passengers departing, arriving, or transiting through Brussels should monitor their itineraries closely
