British Airways is extending The Club membership for one year to members who haven't met the official flight criteria, a move to maintain elite membership numbers

## Summary

British Airways has begun emailing members to inform them that their The Club membership will be retained for another year despite not meeting the official flight criteria. This follows a disastrous program refresh in April 2025 that moved to revenue-based tier points. The airline is reintroducing bonuses to make the new tier structure resemble the old one, with this retention of non-qualifying members seen as a desperate attempt to keep elite membership numbers high, likely to hit bonus targets

## Why it matters

Affects 2 airline programs (British Airways, IAG).
