A man sneaked onto an Austrian Airlines Embraer E190 at Košice Airport, Slovakia, causing a ~2-hour delay for the Vienna flight after crew discovered him sleeping in the cabin

## Summary

On July 23, 2026, at Košice International Airport (KSC) in Slovakia, a man wandered the empty terminal overnight, broke into closed outlets, and interacted with an employee before climbing the perimeter fence to the apron. He boarded an Austrian Airlines Embraer E190 (scheduled for Vienna at 5:25 AM) via open stairs and slept in the first row. When the crew arrived, they found him and delayed the flight for approximately two hours while a security inspection, including a police dog sweep for explosives, was conducted. The man was detained by police; he had no ID but papers indicated he was a psychiatric patient. The incident highlights significant security lapses at the small airport
