# American restores reserved coach food on DFW-LAX from October 13, 2026

American Airlines is testing reserved buy-on-board for coach on Dallas-Fort Worth to Los Angeles, with orders opening October 13, 2026, for flights from October 20. Invited passengers order in the American Airlines app or on aa.com until 20 hours before departure. American then loads the selected items for that flight.

The charge posts only when the item is delivered onboard. A missing item or a flight change brings no refund. The test menu is limited and uses current onboard prices, including a $13 fruit and cheese plate and a $14 chicken ranch wrap. Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members can reserve the complimentary coach item they already get.

Reservations are limited to flights that already have a buy-on-board cart, a service that starts at 1,100 miles. Nationwide coverage is not due until the end of Q1 2027. Use it for the complimentary elite item on the test route; skip a paid order if the itinerary might change.
